For the month of June, we’re proud to feature a truly unique organization as our Rescue of the Month. Located in East Smithfield, PA, Animal Care Sanctuary has been helping dogs and cats live their best lives for over 55 years. What truly sets them apart are their innovative tiny home-style spaces for many of their dogs, creating a more natural, comfortable environment that helps ease the transition from shelter life to a forever home.
Set on 130 acres, the sanctuary gives animals room to explore, decompress, and thrive. They even partner with local high school cross-country teams, who run with the dogs, providing incredible physical and mental enrichment.
Their mission is rooted in turning compassion into action through adoption, spay/neuter programs, and community support that helps both pets and their people.
Beyond sheltering, they offer holistic care including veterinary services, a pet pantry, and an on-site wellness center with behavior support, meeting animals and families wherever they are. And icing on the cake is helping to shape a more compassionate future education and hands-on programs for kids of all ages.
