We all love to binge-watch a show or catch a movie on Netflix after a long day of work or play. So does your pet! For you, it’s time to catch up on all the pop culture references your coworkers won’t shut up about. For them, it’s time to cuddle with you and just be by your side.
Whether your pet is curled up next to you on the couch or enjoying a chew at your feet, there is no denying that the best Netflix buddy is your furry friend. So, here are a few programs you can catch, together:
Dogs:
An obvious pick you probably don’t want to binge with a cat, Dogs is a docuseries produced by Netflix that tells several stories about our canine best friends around the world. Each puts on display all the love behind those wet noses. Be sure to grab some tissues because you’re going to need them. Your dog will be begging you to stop hugging him/her afterward.
New Girl:
A roommate sitcom, New Girl tells the story of Jess, a bubbly female schoolteacher who moves into a loft with three guys. While the number of tenants regularly changes over the seasons, the hijinks in this hilarious comedy always remain the same. Cat owners will instantly gravitate toward Winston once he adopts his ex’s cat, Ferguson. From season 3 all the way to season 7, their relationship is 100% cat-parent goals.
The Crown:
A historic drama chronicling the life of Queen Elizabeth II from the 1940s to the present, The Crown is a Netflix show filled with political intrigue, romance and personal stories. Queen Elizabeth II is well-known for her love of Corgis, and you and your puppo can watch that relationship blossom from the beginning. If you and your pup are in charge of your kingdom and love to watch British dramas, this show is for you.
The Lion in Your Living Room:
Despite domestication, cats retain a large portion of their feline instincts. This documentary follows experts as they travel the world and explore the science and history behind a cat’s playful purr. Cuddle up with your cat (let’s be honest, it’s probably “cats,” plural) as you enjoy this short movie on what’s going on behind those cute little eyes.
She-Ra and the Princesses of Power:
This one is a little different than the others we’ve mentioned already, but it’s something you and your cat will love. We promise! This reboot of the classic 1980’s cartoon follows a girl who transforms into the warrior She-Ra and stages a rebellion against an evil empire. Where do cats come in? The main antagonist is a woman named Catra, who could be like your cat if it were a humanoid and could run an evil empire. Plus, the character is voiced by AJ Michalka, which is a major throwback to those Aly and AJ days.
Queer Eye:
Everyone loves a good makeover show, and that includes your pets (they totally do, it’s scientifically proven). Anyway, Queer Eye is a Netflix original show where five experts work together to revamp an individual’s wardrobe, home and lifestyle. Pets aren’t shown much in the show except for a few episodes. However, in season 3, the most adorable French bulldog named Bruley joins the quintet. Bruley doesn’t contribute much to the makeover process, but he’s most certainly the sixth member of the famous Fab Five.
Bolt:
Bolt tells the story of a superpowered puppy that lives a life of danger and excitement as he protects his owner, Penny. The twist is that his life is a TV show, but he doesn’t know it. The comical and heartfelt adventure is perfect for the entire family and will definitely have you endlessly hugging your doggo from beginning to end.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina:
Do you have a black cat? Do you just love Halloween? Are you a total witch? Than you probably already know about the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. But, for the uninitiated, the show is a dark twist on the classic tale of a teenage witch. Sabrina navigates life as a teenager and a witch while discovering all the dangers that come with it. Joining her is a familiar black cat named Salem, who is definitely more than meets the eye. This show is perfect for you and your cat if you love teen dramas and enjoy a little scare.
101 Dalmatians:
101 Dalmatians is a classic Disney cartoon, but the live-action movie is now available on Netflix. So how could we not include it on this list? For anyone who has been sleeping under a rock the last 58-plus years, 101 Dalmatians is the story of how the dastardly Cruella De Vil attempts to steal 101 Dalmatians from their parents and owners. Don’t worry. Everyone ends up fine! The number of dogs in this movie will make your heart flutter, but it could confuse your dog thanks to all of the barking.
BoJack Horseman:
An animated show from Netflix, BoJack Horseman tells the story of a 90’s sitcom star who tries to make a comeback despite his self-loathing and drunken behavior. Did we mention he’s a horse? Joining BoJack is his neighbor/actor, Mr. Peanutbutter, who is a golden Labrador, and his agent, Princess Carolyn, a cat. While these animals walk and talk like humans, occasionally they act on their pet tendencies − like when Princess Carolyn is playing with a cat toy while on a client call and Mr. Peanutbutter gets distracted by a bus. Pet owners who love dark humor and silly jokes will appreciate this serious alongside their fluffy pal.
Legally Blonde:
We can all quote Legally Blonde in our sleep (bend … and snap), but anyone having a pet-centric movie marathon would be foolish not to include this 2001 classic. Legally Blonde tells the story of a sorority sister, Elle Woods, who goes to Harvard Law School to win her ex-boyfriend back. Accompanying her through the courtroom comedy is her dog, Bruiser, who steals every scene he’s in. The comedy, currently available on Netflix, is the perfect way to end any binge-watching marathon.
Whether a feline or canine, your furry partner is waiting for you to get home with a bunch of snacks so you can start your binge-watching fest
